Gateway is the third studio album by American stoner metal band Bongzilla. It was released on September 17, 2002, through Relapse Records. The title of the album is a reference to the term "gateway drug", used to describe an apparently more-benign drug that can lead to the use of more dangerous drugs.
The album was recorded and mixed at Earhammer Studios in San Francisco, California, with producer Kurt Ballou.
Gateway is a heavier and more aggressive album than Bongzilla's previous two albums. The songs are longer and more complex, with more focus on the band's instrumental prowess. The lyrics are still all about weed, but they are also more introspective and personal.
The album was well-received by critics and fans alike. It was praised for its heavy sound, its catchy melodies, and its powerful performances. The album has helped to establish Bongzilla as one of the leading bands in the stoner metal scene.
