French unit WORMSAND have found the right balance between sludge's dark heaviness and grunge's roughness. Overpowering riffs and surprising breaks are shaking up an already hectic experience.
From the very first notes 'You, The King' dearly plunges into darkness, confidently bouncing between sludge and grunge. Almost initiatory, the album is brimming with good ideas that underline the magnificent and dramatic decline of the king. The fearless rhythm section crafts a truly breathless climax where each second of the eight tracks disturbs, impresses or thrills. The vocals' meticulous care perfectly manage to showcase the musicians' technical skills. Finely tuned intros and sound effects borrowed from horror or science fiction films polish off a gripping work.
