Iron Maiden is an English heavy metal band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. The band's current lineup consists of Harris, lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson, drummer Nicko McBrain, guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers. Iron Maiden have released 17 studio albums, 14 live albums, 10 compilation albums, and 6 extended plays. They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling heavy metal bands of all time.
Iron Maiden are known for their elaborate stage shows, which often feature elaborate props and special effects. They are also known for their mascot, Eddie, a skeletal figure who appears on many of their album covers and merchandise.
