COPIES ARE ON HAND & WILL BY OFFICIALLY RELEASED ON 20 SEPTEMBER.
Teethcutter, the new album from Tulsa Volume Kings, Dust Lord, is a nasty fusion of sludge, crust, stoner, and doom, laden with harmonies. Endeavoring to raise the bar for underground heavy bands, Spike Shavor, founding member of grindcore legends Catheter, birthed Dust Lord in the mountains of Colorado Springs, sworn to make the loudest and heaviest music possible. After releasing 2020’s full-length, Machine Cult, and 2021’s split with Bog Wizard, entitled Four Tales Of The Strange, Spike relocated to Tulsa, OK and assembled the current lineup with Brad Hallacy of Grass Giant on bass and Connor Bradley on drums.
Dust Lord are back with a face ripping, precision assault, utilizing a full palate of sounds for a perfect blend of aural destruction. You can feel the visceral volume through the thunder of Hallacy’s bass bombs, Bradley’s tub thumps, and Shavor’s razor guitar riffs and vocal shred. The authenticity in their delivery is palpable. You feel like you’re in the front row of their live show, receiving a sonic ass-beating of epic proportion. THIS is how you want recorded music to hit. Decapitation by volume and will.
The title track is sizzling, with a nasty vocal delivery akin to the raw punk/crossover days of yore, while the band easily downshifts from their Isle of Man franticness and takes you off some sweet jumps before settling into their dirt doggin’ grooves and crescendos of doom throughout. In a sometimes oversaturated space of heavy stoner, fuzz, and doom, Dust Lord break free from the pack. An undeniable force.
