Pantera's second studio album, Projects in the Jungle, was released on July 27, 1984, by Metal Magic Records. The album showed a band still developing its sound, with influences from glam metal bands like Def Leppard and Judas Priest, alongside speed metal and Van Halen-inspired guitar solos.

The album's first music video was filmed for the track "All Over Tonight." While the album  didn't achieve mainstream success, it is considered a turning point for the band,  as they began to move away from their glam metal roots and incorporate the heavier sound that would define their later work.
