Repeater is the third EP by American psychedelic rock band King Buffalo. It was released on January 5, 2018, through Heavy Psych Sounds. The EP was recorded at the Main Street Armory in Rochester, New York, and produced and engineered by Sean McVay. Mastering was handled by Bernard Matthews at BMAP INC.
The EP opens with the title track, a slow-burning psychedelic jam that builds to a crescendo of fuzzed-out guitars and pounding drums. The second track, "Dead Star," is a more bluesy number with a driving beat and catchy melody. "Longing to Be the Mountain" is a longer, more atmospheric track that features some stunning guitar work from guitarist Sean Paul Badum. The EP closes with "Orion," a powerful instrumental that showcases the band's ability to create epic soundscapes.
Repeater is a strong follow-up to King Buffalo's previous EP, Longing to Be the Mountain. The band's sound has continued to evolve, and they are now crafting more complex and ambitious songs. Repeater is a must-have for fans of psychedelic rock, stoner rock, and doom metal.
