Richard Dean Zehringer, known professionally as Rick Derringer, (1960s–2020s) was a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer who achieved success in the 1960s with his band, The McCoys. Their debut single, "Hang On Sloopy", became a number-one hit in 1965 and is considered a garage rock classic. Derringer also played with Johnny Winter and Edgar Winter's White Trash, and collaborated with artists like Steely Dan, Alice Cooper, and Cyndi Lauper.
