James Newell Osterberg Jr., known as Iggy Pop, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and musician who rose to fame as the lead singer of the proto-punk band the Stooges. Known as the “Godfather of Punk”, Pop is known for his unpredictable stage antics, unique voice, and poetic lyrics. His music blends blues and free jazz with the sounds of Michigan's automotive industry. Pop has also had a successful solo career, and in 2022 was awarded the Polar Music Prize.
