This is the debut solo studio album by American rock musician Alice Cooper, released on March 11, 1975.  It is his only album for the Atlantic Records label in North America; in the rest of the world, it was released on the ABC subsidiary Anchor Records (also his only album for that label).  The album is a concept album, with Cooper telling the story of the nightmares of the character Steven.

The album was a commercial success, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and spawning the hit singles "Welcome to My Nightmare" and "School's Out".  The album was praised by critics for its dark and atmospheric sound, and its use of horror imagery.  It is considered one of Cooper's best albums, and has been certified triple platinum by the RIAA.

The album features guest appearances by Vincent Price on "The Black Widow" and "Steven's Last Stand".

The album was a critical and commercial success, and helped to solidify Cooper's status as a rock icon. It is considered one of the most important albums of the 1970s, and has been ranked highly on many lists of the greatest albums of all time.
