Begotten is a stoner doom metal band from New York City, formed in 1997. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2001 on Man's Ruin Records. The album was produced by Roger Lian and mastered by Howie Weinberg.
The album is a heavy, sludgy, and doomy affair, with thick riffs, pounding drums, and Anselmo's guttural vocals. The songs are long and slow-paced, but they are never boring. The album is a classic of the stoner doom genre and is highly recommended to fans of the style.
