Whirlings, The - Earthshine (Vinyl/Record)

THE WHIRLINGS:  L'Aquila, Italy.

The Whirlings’ last LP, Earthshine, comes from a long process. The five songs inside the album were shaped during the band’s long jams and live shows, coming to a final version thanks to the production of Lorenzo Stecconi (Zu, Ufomammut, Lento) in the Locomotore Studios in Rome across 2018 and 2019.

Beside the band’s usual stoner, heavy-psych and post-rock sound, Earthshine shows the research towards new styles and languages, like in the single Vacuum, that features Vera Claps vocals. The band’s will for experimentation is evident also in the use of sinthetizers in Lost in Whiteout (again with an important contribution from Stecconi) and in the dialogues overdubbing the “spaghetti western” beat in Reverence.

All these pieces together compose a work that, following the waves of the two previous albums, moves the Whirlings’ horizons across new universes.
