Tejas is the fifth studio album by American rock band ZZ Top. It was released in late November 1976, on the London label. The title is a Caddo language word meaning "friends", which is the origin of the name of the band's home state, Texas.
The album was produced by Bill Ham, who had produced all of the band's previous albums. Tejas was a commercial success, reaching number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. The album spawned two singles, "Tush" and "Pancho and Lefty", both of which were Top 40 hits.
The album was praised by critics for its bluesy, Southern rock sound. Rolling Stone magazine gave the album 4 out of 5 stars, calling it "a powerful, cohesive album that ranks among the band's best."
Tejas is a classic album from ZZ Top and is considered one of their best. It is a must-have for any fan of blues rock, Southern rock, or hard rock.
