Budgie were a Welsh heavy metal band formed in Cardiff in 1967.  The band's original lineup consisted of Burke Shelley (bass, vocals), Tony Bourge (guitar), and Ray Phillips (drums).  Budgie were one of the earliest heavy metal bands, and they are considered to be a major influence on the development of the genre.  The band released 10 studio albums, 1 live album, and 2 compilation albums.  Budgie disbanded in 1988, but they reunited in 1999 and continued to tour and release new music until Shelley's death in 2022.

 It is a tribute album to the third studio album by Welsh heavy metal band Budgie, Never Turn Your Back on a Friend, released in 1973.  It was released in 2023 by Pale Wizard Records to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original album.

The album has received positive reviews from critics, with many praising the performances of the tribute artists. It has also been a commercial success, reaching number 1 on the UK Rock Chart.
