Finally, some fresh material for 70s fans! After their acclaimed TCM debut last year, The Great Beyond from Münster now deliver their first full-length album. What can we say? The guys once again unleash a ton of killer guitar sounds, all deeply rooted in the gritty 70s.

However, compared to its predecessor, the songs here gain some additional facets: If A Better Place was the stylish but laid-back guy in a vintage shirt, this album is more like his best buddy—with a proper mane, a fringed jacket, and a serious thirst for beer. The intricate lick storms are still there, and the solos remain, but now they’re balanced more than ever with driving hard rock sections, teetering perfectly between the punch of Queens of the Stone Age and the effortless playfulness of their labelmates Heat.

Fans of TCM doomers Mountain Witch should also give this a spin—not just for the 70s vibe, but because the faster riffs, in particular, create an equally massive groove.
